Questions about connecting our 4G & WiFi cameras.
The camera requires a normal phone SIM that is inserted into the camera that has an active data plan. The camera then uses a 4G connection to connect to the internet. Once connected, you can live stream and download footage from your camera wherever you are. No WiFi is required to connect our 4G version.
You can test this easily by running an internet speed test on a website such as www.speedtest.net or www.fast.com. You'll need to move your phone as close to the desired installation point as possible and connect to your chosen network, either WiFi or 4G. When you run the speed test, your results will need to show a download and upload speed of at least 2Mbps for comfortable user experience. The higher the number the better.
All UK mobile network providers work with our cameras. This includes O2, EE, Vodafone, Three and all other providers.
This depends on how often you access your camera via the app. The camera doesn't use any data until you access your camera through the app. Roughly 20 minutes of streaming a day would use around 2GB of data per month.
As our cameras use a free to use app, the WiFi version of our camera has no monthly costs. The only charge for our 4G camera will be to your mobile SIM provider. We ship our cameras with a free Giffgaff SIM card, which uses O2 signal. You can buy data Goody Bags with Giffgaff.
At the time of writing, you buy the following data packs:
1GB for £6 per month - roughly 10 minutes of streaming per day over a month
4GB for £8 per month - roughly 40 minutes of streaming per day over a month
15GB for £10 per month - roughly 150 minutes of streaming per day over a month
All mobile SIM providers provide pay-as-you-go monthly data packages.
We suggest using the Ofcom signal checker. This will give you a rough idea on signal in your area. You can also hold your phone in the position of where you want to install your camera to get an idea of signal.
Questions about our cameras functionality.
You can set our cameras to only record when movement/human is detected or you can have our cameras record footage 24/7. You'll require a Micro SD card to record footage.
For our cameras to record any footage you will have to insert a Micro SD card into the camera. We sell 64G and 128GB Micro SD cards.
They can hold the following amount of footage:
64GB - minimum 48 hours
128GB - minimum 96 hours
The camera automatically overwrites the oldest footage on the camera when the Micro SD card reaches maximum capacity.
You will require a separate Micro SD card per camera.
You can connect your camera into a single free to use app, CamhiPro. The app can downloaded on any Apple or Android phone or tablet. You can find the full instructions on how to download and use the app on our setup page.
You can connect any many cameras as you wish into the CamhiPro app. You can watch each camera separately or view up to four cameras live in a split screen view.
Our 4G 360 camera has a built in smart WiFi router. This allows you to connect multiple WiFi cameras to a single 4G 360 camera, saving on monthly SIM card costs. The signal is a standard WiFi signal and can range between 0-100M, depending on obstacles at your location. We recommend connecting a maximum of four WiFi cameras to a single 4G 360 camera. This smart WiFi router function is only available on our RuralView 360 4G Camera however, you can connect any WiFi camera.
A 5MP camera records in a higher resolution than a standard 1080p HD camera, meaning more detail is captured. The exact resolution is 2560x1920.
